"KWIK-OP"TM
Automatic Openers, Pneumatic for Swinging Doors
Basic Model includes:
Control Box that controls functions,
Openers to open doors, and
Closers to close doors.
For New or Retro fits.
APPLICATION
The DD-1000 & 2000 series door operator is a surface mounted pneumatic
door opener for swing doors in handicap, institutional, commercial, and
industrial applications. It is compatible with interior and exterior doors
of virtually all types. Door panels for 2'0" to 5'0" wide and
weighing up to 600 pounds can be accommodated. One way, two way, and two
way bi-parting traffic patterns can be used by varying combinations of
activators and orientations of activators. Simultaneous operation of double
doors is standard.
DESCRIPTION
The DD-1000 & 2000 series operator applies a linear opening force
to the door by a pneumatic cylinder, actuator arm, and a rubber wheel.
No wear plate is necessary. There are only three bearing points of minimal
wear. The operator is not attached to the door, consequently the door
can be operated manually as a conventional door, or automatically through
any desired system of control. The unit is virtually noiseless when operating.
Door closers are included.
MOUNTING
The DD-1000 & 2000 series operator can be easily mounted to any conventional
door frame head. The unit can be mounted on a flush ceiling application,
since it does not require any clearance above the door frame opening.
OPERATION
Automatic door operation is accomplished when the open command is transmitted
from wall switches, floor mats, motion or proximity sensors, security
or other devices. The opening speed (1.5 to 5 seconds) is controlled by
an air pressure regulator. The back check, closing speed, and latch check
are controlled by the action of a LCN door closer. A (hold open time)
microprocessor controls the time between the opening and closing functions,
and is adjustable from 1 to 99 seconds of delay. This is the only electronic
control in the unit.
CONTROL BOX
The control unit is designed for a permanent connection to a 11 5vac 50/60hz
power source, which power the 24vac command signal controls, and air solenoid
appropriate for the installation. The control unit can be remotely located
up to 25' from the operator. The only connection between the control unit
and the operator is a single flexible air pressure line. Multiple operators
connected to a single control unit may require an increase in the size
of the air line to the control unit.
SECURITY
Application of an electric strike or other systems which may be controlled
by push buttons, key switches, or card key systems, proof of closure can
be done without changes in the control unit.
* The Kwik-Op microprocessor controls the above cycles, and many other
standard functions. Field programmable. Custom programs are available.
INSTALLATION
Rigid templates shall be provided for installation of operator, closer,
and control unit. Specific instructions shall be provided for installation
of all equipment supplied.
It is not necessary to have factory trained installers.
ADJUSTMENT
Speed of door opening, from 1.5 to 5 seconds, is governed by the air pressure
adjustment knob in the control unit.
Factory setting is 45 pounds.
Opening/closing hold open time delay can be adjusted from 1 to 99 seconds
using the adjustment screw on the time delay relay in the control unit.
Factory setting is 10 seconds.
Closer back check, opening/closing force, sweep speed, and latch speed
and range are controlled by 4 adjustments on the outside of the closer.
Factory shall maintain a toll free (800) telephone number, prominently
displayed on the equipment, for factory direct service to the end user.
Parts to user in 24hrs.

AIR SUPPLY FOR AUTOMATIC DOOR
OPERATORS
Air compressor sizing: 100/125 PSI range with sufficient capacity to furnish
volume as follows: 1 double door operator requires 1 CFM, to be increased
by .9 CFM for each additional double door installation.
EXAMPLE: 6 double doors: minimum capacity 1 CFM plus 4.5 CFM = 5.5 CFM
required. Specifications are available for compressor.
AIR SUPPLY LINES AND FITTINGS FOR AUTOMATIC DOOR
Air supply lines to be of an adequate size for the volume required, (see
above calculation), 1/2" minimum diameter, run from compressor to
each control unit location and fitted with a pressure gauge, coalescing
filter with automatic drain and shut off valve, then reduced to 1/4"
dia. and terminate with a 1/4" NPTF female fitting (plugged until
final connection is made).
Terminus of line to be 5" to right of control unit centerline and
8" (minimum) above the control unit. Purge air supply prior to connecting
to control unit or warranty may be voided.
TO BE FURNISHED UNDER ELECTRICAL SECTION
ELECTRICAL SUPPLY FOR AUTOMATIC
DOOR OPERATORS
Junction box (4") 110/120 VAC, 60 HZ, 2 AMP outlet to be furnished
at each control unit location, 10" to left of control unit centerline
and 6" (minimum) above the control unit. Wiring from activating switches
or devices to control box to terminate at same junction box, (or per local
code).
NOTE
Each installation requires analysis to insure proper performance of the
opener system. A safety system should always be considered for pedestrian
safety and protection. When a complete safety system is not used, the
end user must have a safety meeting with their personnel to instruct them
on the use of the automatic door system. This must be done as soon as
the doors are put into operation.
RETROFITTING IN EXISTING CENTER HUNG DOOR INSTALLATIONS
CAM LIFT HINGE CONVERSION FOR
AUTOMATIC DOOR OPERATORS
When converting cam lift hinged door to automatic operation, the operator
manufacturer shall provide a NO-RISE CONVERSION KIT with each operator,
and a 4" wide steel filler tube or a fabricated structural channel.
